Native IOTX Wallets Now Available & ERC20-to-Native IOTX Swap Guide

It has been an exciting month since Mainnet Alpha went live! Over the past few weeks, we not only welcomed new Delegates and expanded to 18 Consensus Delegates, but we also built new user-friendly tools for the IoTeX community. In this blog post, we provide an overview of ERC20 vs. native IOTX and our current wallet tools to store, swap, and stake/vote your IOTX.


ERC20-IOTX and Native IOTX tokens

As we shared in our previous blog post, there are currently two versions of the IOTX token: ERC20-IOTX and Native IOTX. The value of these tokens is the same (1:1 swap), but they are currently used for different things:

ERC20-IOTX: used for staking/voting on Ethereum. ERC20-IOTX has trading on Binance, Bittrex, Upbit, Kucoin, Gate, etc. for the past year.

Native IOTX: used for txns and smart contracts on IoTeX Mainnet. This is a NEW token trading on PIEXGO (BTC, ETH, USDT pairs) as of May 22!


These two tokens will coexist for the next few months. In late Q3, there will be an official token swap via exchanges, after which the native token will be used for staking/voting, transactions, and smart contracts on the IoTeX Mainnet. Until then, we invite you to test and swap your ERC20 IOTX to Native IOTX before the official token swap, however it is not required. To swap tokens, use our tool here:

IOTX Wallets Available Today!

Now that we know the difference between ERC20 vs. Native IOTX and where these tokens can be traded, we want to share all of the great cryptocurrency wallets that support IOTX!


IoTeX Online Wallet

The IoTeX Online Wallet is a built-in feature of IoTeX network, where users can create a wallet and perform various actions in the IoTeX Mainnet and Testnet. Similar to other cryptocurrency wallets, the public and private key should be recorded to re-use / unlock a specific wallet.


Supported Tokens: IOTX (native), any tokens launched on IoTeX network, EIOTX test tokens

IoTeX Desktop Wallet v0.1.2

The IoTeX desktop wallet is a great option for users who frequently send tokens or vote for Delegates. It is easy to use and more secure as an application installed on your computer.

IoTeX-Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet is a mobile wallet app that lets you send, receive and store cryptocurrency tokens, including IoTeX. Designed with a focus on simplicity, Trustwallet aims to provide a platform that’s easy and straightforward to set up and use. TrustWallet was acquired by Binance in July 2018.


On April 16, Trust Wallet has launched IoTeX Staking & Voting DApp, which is fully integrated with IoTeX’s voting website. Now it also becomes the first cryptocurrency wallet which fully supports both of our native IOTX (native) and ERC20 IOTX!

IoTeXGeeks Desktop Wallet

On May 20, IoTeXGeeks — our delegate coming from the developer community — has officially released its desktop wallet for multiple platforms. It is a comprehensive wallet which integrates most of the key features to engage with our tokens.

IoTeX-Cobo Wallet

On March 27, Cobo Wallet — our delegate and strategic partner — has officially released the first Mobile Voting DApp for IoTeX Delegates Program! Integrated with our voting website, the voting process can be performed directly through Cobo Wallet with built-in MetaMask tool.

On May 23, imToken has officially released its Voting DApp for IoTeX Delegates Program. Integrated with our voting website, the voting process can be performed directly through imToken Wallet with built-in MetaMask tool.
